5 = 3 - 6

Yup, 5=3-6. No, it's not a complex math problem. Or one that is just simply wrong. It's the newest equation for this little guy:The 5 would represent that today he is 5 weeks old. Today it was also necessary to put him in his 3-6 month clothes. (I probably could have made the switch days ago, but my weekend was a little too slammed to wash, pack and unpack baby clothes.) Apparently Mason did not get the memo that babies are supposed to be cute and little for as long as possible…instead of the opposite! (Good thing he's still cute!)
Of course, baby brother could not have the spotlight to himself. I guess there could be worse things than my boys wanting their picture taken every time they see a camera out!(And I couldn't help but post this one, even if Mason is crying, and I cut off Carson's head. It was still too cute.)

Mr. Mason is 1 Month

4 weeks. Really? Sad thing is, is that I know in another month I'll be saying something similar. I guess it's true, the more you have, the faster they grow. (And the bigger they seem… or really are in our case!)(I forgot about this cute onesie that we have. It makes me smile. Can you read it?)And here is our attempt at Dustin taking a picture of me and Mason. The only thing Dustin hates more than being in a picture, is quite possibly, actually taking a picture. Yup, this shot of me with my triple chin was the best I could get from him. But it is sweet of Mason looking up at me. I'll give him that.

GOOOOOOOOOOAL!

Okay, so I know I just posted last week about Carson playing soccer. But he had a super great time this week, too.Our friend, Steph, took these great pictures again. She's pretty much the team photographer now- I love it! She even snapped this one of Jensen! This week Carson had a particularly great time, because he scored not 1, but TWO goals! Here he is kicking the ball into the net. He was so excited! (Dustin was rather proud that Carson finally got into it, and he made the only goals on our team. :)) I have to say, I was rather pleased myself. Way to go Carson!(And no, this is not Carson showing you the peace sign. He's telling me from across the field that he scored TWICE! - As if I didn't see!)

3's

I know I'm late on the "3 weeks" post for Mason. But we took some pictures today of our gigantic baby brother to show him off to all our far away friends and family. Can you believe this is a 3 week old baby? He's about 12lbs now…maybe more. Every time I pick him up I think, "Man, you are so heavy!" And he's long, too. He barely fits in my lap anymore. I think we're going to have to put away the 0-3 month clothes and pull out the 3-6 months pretty soon. That just blows my mind!If Mason is crying, Jensen can be heard saying, "Mason-Mason. IT'S! O! K! Mommy is coming!" Jensen has also been known to tell a joke or two to his infant brother. :) Carson likes to sit next to Mason, especially when his eyes are open. He likes to talk to him, and if he's fussing, Carson likes to sing silly made up songs to distract him. I'm very glad I have two sweet helpers!

Go Grasshoppers!

First off, my sincerest thanks to my good friend, Steph, for taking all these great pictures. Carson and her daughter (and our long time friend) Lusia had their first ever soccer game this past Saturday morning. I, of course, forgot my camera, since I was trying to make it out the door at 8am with a 2 year old and 3 week old…but I digress. The kids had a good time, and we're really excited for a fun season. I think we must have the best coach in the league- he was super nice and great with the kids.

Here's Carson during their pre-game practice. (I love the intensity!)Getting pumped up by cheering their newly acquired team name- the Grasshoppers. (The kids chose and voted- is that not the cutest?)Ready to kick-off… well, not quite sure what Carson is ready for in this picture. What is it and this kid making faces?Kicking the ball in. Once again with the super intense face! I love this kid!And finally, Carson and Lusia. So cute. Someday they will want to strangle Steph and I for taking all of these kinds of pictures of them.

Stats

I took Mason into the doctor for his 2 week check up yesterday. Despite losing 12 oz in just a couple days of his birth, he has more than gained it back! He now weighs a whopping 11lbs 3 oz, and stretches out to 23". This puts him above the 97th percentile for both height and weight. It's funny, because he just looks like a big boy. Carson didn't hit 11lbs until he was 2 months old! We'll see if he continues to be big, or if he'll average out as time goes by. (Dustin's hoping for his all-star giant child…)And so far, Carson and Jensen remain just as smitten as the rest of us. I'm content to enjoy the love and affection while it lasts.

Two Weeks Now

It hardly seems like it's been 2 weeks since this little guy arrived. Mason has been great, aside from his fussy evenings. But he's so great all the rest of the time that it just feels wrong to complain about it. The big boys love him, and are so excited when they see him with his eyes open like this!
We also got to introduce Mason to Dustin's siblings this weekend. Aunt Jennifer particularly loved snuggling with him. And Jensen and Carson loved having more people to play with! Wish they could have stayed a little longer.

A Sad Goodbye

We had to say goodbye to Grandma Jensen today. I know that this trip ended up being a lot longer than we anticipated, but I was really thankful that she was able to spend so much time here with us. She was such a huge help.My mom is the kind of mom you want to come when you have a baby.
She entertained Carson and Jensen.
She helped with meals.
She washed laundry.
She vacuumed.
She went grocery shopping for me.
She helped Jensen in the bathroom.
She put kids to bed.
She made me take naps.
She kept me company.
She held Mason.
She even sacrificed her own sleep to settle a newborn in the middle of the night so that I could sleep.
Thank you, Mom. We miss you already.
