Sweet Baby "J"

I'm so excited that I finally got Jensen's 3 month portraits back. Not only am I glad that I can share them with our family and friends, but I was getting desperate for something to post! I loved this little vignette that the photographer put together for me. Jensen was so good while we took his pictures, and I was glad to finally capture his chubby little smile.

My New Favorite Thing

My new favorite thing is my ring sling! (Jensen likes it too!) I decided to get one because Jensen wasn't too hot on our other baby carrier. I've discovered that not only is he more comfortable, but so am I. (Thanks Naomi for showing me how to use it!)

And thank you, thank you, thank you to my awesome sister-in-law, Stephanie, who got me hooked on all of her Pink Lemonade stuff. I also adore my nursing cover and diaper caddy (which makes my cute new purse into an awesome diaper bag.) I highly recommend their products!

And I just had to take a picture of Jensen from my point of view. Mom's view is always the best, I've decided. It also cracks me up that Carson is running around like a maniac behind me. Gotta love my sweet boys.

Bats or No Bats

Austin is home to the world's largets urban bat colony, which lives under the Congress Street Bridge from about April to August. Dustin and I have been here for 3 years (WOW!) and had yet to see the famous show. Or shall I say "have" yet to see it.

We decided to check it out last night with my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, Jason and his girlfriend, Amanda (since they are in town for the weekend.) We camped out under the bridge for nearly an hour with hundreds of other people waiting to see the bats come out. Finally, a 1/2 hour after the sun had completely set, we gave up and headed back to the car to get Carson in his jammies. Jason and Amanda toughed it out for another 15 minutes, and they finally saw some bats head out.

So, sad to say, Carson spent the rest of the evening telling us "the bats didn't come out." Maybe some day we'll get lucky and actually view this phenomenon.

A Woman in Transition

I've been using this diaper bag (that I got for free from the hospital when CARSON was born) simply because it was utilitarian. It held all of my new mommy junk, but it looks, well.. like this. (Thanks Carson for being my diaper bag model.)

But not anymore! My friend Angela has been selling purses and jewelry for a while now, but I had yet to get my hands on any of it... until today. I'm now the proud owner of this cute purse, which doubles beautifully as a diaper bag. (Check this out for more adorable designs.) Thanks a bunch Angela, and Happy Mother's Day to myself!

Brudnicki Look-alike Meter

I think every parent of a new child goes through the interrogation of whether the baby looks more like mom or dad. We haven't been able to figure Jensen out, so when one of my friends had this deal on her blog, I thought I'd give it a try. Go figure, it's pretty much inconclusive! What do you think?

Brudnicki Look-alike Meter

This one actually surprised me because we've always thought Carson looked more like me than Dustin. (Especially from my baby pictures... maybe that's because I don't have very many of Dustin's baby photos to compare.) I guess our kids are the perfect blend of us.

Pinewood Derby

This past weekend was our ward's Pinewood Derby and the scouts invited the Elder's Quorum to participate again this year. So Dustin busted out his record holding car (from last year) and put it to the test. Unfortunately only one other Elder joined him so the bragging rights weren't nearly as impressive. But, as always, Dustin's car came out on top.

We also had our EQ bonfire social that night, so here are some pictures of Jensen and Dad, as well as Carson checking out the Simmons's chickens! Fun times.
