I'm Dreaming of a White… February?
It actually happened. Snow in Texas. Dustin always gets upset (along with everyone else that has lived in the cold before) because everything shuts down when we get ice or snow. But it's for a good reason. Actually, a couple of reasons. First, I think it's because we haven't been acclimated. Seriously, it was almost 80 degrees on Sunday. Then there's the driving. People here have no idea how to drive in this, like the guy in his rear wheel drive Mustang trying to go up an icy freeway on ramp that they kept showing on the news all morning. Yeah, prime example. And it's not just the drivers. Since we get weather like this once every couple of years, they simply don't have the equipment to prep or properly treat the roads. So it is a real mess.
Thankfully, I don't have to go anywhere today, so we're staying home and playing in the pitiful amount of snow that we have. As long as my power doesn't go out and we have heat, today will be a fun break from the norm.

The Tooth Fairy is on Her Way
Here's Carson a few nights ago. Check out that crazy tooth!
It's actually been loose for weeks. And it looked like this for what seemed like forever. One night Dustin told Carson he would give him a $5 bill if he could pull it out. Carson jumped all over that and totally let Dustin have a shot at it. Unfortunately, it just wasn't ready to come out. Until today!
I was getting Mason ready for his nap and Carson was watching TV, when all the sudden he came running into the nursery and announced, "My tooth came out!" He's pretty excited, especially since it didn't even hurt! (Now to figure out the Tooth Fairy standard for payment…)
While we're talking about teeth, Mason also has some news. No losses for him, but he now has two in there! (Yes, I'm still nursing him, and yes, he has bitten me. Sigh.) And Mason is now 5 months old! It's gone by so fast.
I also started putting him in 12 month PJ's. Guess he's not going to slow down or average out any time soon! Now if only we could get him to grow some hair.
He's been a really good baby. We can't get enough of his chubby, kissable cheeks!

New Developments
Mason has decided that he can no longer be stationary. He must move! And if that means rolling, then by golly, he'll do it! He's actually been rolling consistently for a couple of days now but I shot this video today for Grandma.
Mason also has a new development in his mouth. Yup, a tooth! He's not even 5 months old! Crazy little baby. It must have come in sometime Monday, since that evening was the first time I felt it. (I would know, seeing as how my hands are his favorite teething toy!) I'm thinking that this is the source of his recent horrific sleeping habits. There are going to be a lot more sleepless nights in my future if that's the case.
In other news, I'm getting pretty good at typing with one hand.

Mmmm, Tasty!
Yesterday we finally got to take Mason in for his 4 month well baby check up. As usual, he's a big, healthy and very cute boy. :) He now weighs in at 18 lbs, 4 oz. (a pound more than when I weighed him on the 23rd last month) which means he's still in the 95%. He's slowed down a little on his length (25 inches- 50%), which Dustin was sorely disappointed about. But all in all, he looks great.
Being that this was his 4 month check up the doctor gave me the go ahead to start feeding him solid foods. So today he got his first bowl of rice cereal. I usually don't stick too long with the rice, because it's kinda gross, but apparently Mason thought it was delicious. He scarfed down the whole bowl with no problems (should I be worried about my future grocery bills?) Here he is trying to get every last speck of cereal off the spoon.
What was that Mom?
Mmmm, tasty! My compliments to the chef!

Ringing in the New
Happy New Year! This year we let the boys stay up a little later (ahem, 9pm) so that they could join in on our little impromptu party. They got to play games and have snacks and then they had their own countdown. They particularly loved the little party blowers that I got for them.
Then the little guys said goodnight to everyone and fell fast asleep. As for the adults, we had a bunch of friends invite themselves over for food and games. :) (We love that we have friends who do this!) We sat around and chatted, played a bunch of games and drank our fair share of sparkling cider. Then we watched the ball drop and socialized a bit more before calling it a night. I wish I could say the rest of the night was quiet, but due to Mason's newborn-like sleeping habits, it wasn't quite the restful night I was hoping for.
But while the morning didn't deliver me from a full nights sleep, it did bring hunger, so we celebrated yet again by having New Year's Pancakes. Mmmm, sprinkles, chocolate chips, syrup, whipped cream… okay, it sounds more like dessert, but hey, January 1st only comes once a year!
On the agenda for New Year's Day, take down Christmas stuff.
And sleep.
As for 2011, we plan to love each other and our 3 beautiful boys even more.
