What'll It Be?

I'd like to order some sleep, with a side of snooze and I think I'll have a nap for dessert. No, that's not Jensen's order, it's MINE! And I'm thinking Dustin would like to have the same.

For the first 2&1/2 weeks Jensen was a pretty good night sleeper. That was until he decided that plan was no good. Coincidentally Carson has now caught some yucky bug and has also not been sleeping well. So while I've been up with the baby, Dustin has been up with Carson. We're a pretty pathetic looking crowd this weekend, so please forgive us.

As for this picture, I thought Jensen looked so cute taking a nap this afternoon. Plus I thought I'd share it with this post just for some irony! Is it just me or is he getting fat?

2 Cute!

2 weeks old. 2 years old. 2 funny brothers. 2 doesn't get any better than this.

Jensen went in for his 2 week doctors appointment and we're glad to report that he's the image of perfect health. He's now 8 lbs, 13 oz. and 22" long. Growing like a weed already. Pretty soon he's going to give Carson a run for his money as the "big" brother!

Now for 2 funny stories. First, Carson has been cracking me up lately. The other day he was doing "Ring around the Rosie" all by himself in the living room, and then he stopped and started singing "Ring around the Nose-y" while circling his nose with his finger. I laughed out loud for several minutes before learning that Dustin had made that up and taught it to him once so that he wouldn't have to circle the room and fall down a dozen times.

Second, when I brought Jensen home from church yesterday I had him snuggled up so that he would take a nap (so that I could take a nap.) He was kind of in and out and I looked down at him to catch him looking right at me with a huge newborn smile on his face. He held my gaze for a few seconds before zonking back out. Even though I know it'll be a while before he actually does this for a reason, it was still just too cute, and totally made me melt!

One Week Old

Can you believe that this little guy has been here for a week already? (Technically one week and one day!) Tomorrow is his due date. I'm so glad he's already here! I just wanted to post a couple of pictures of him close up, now that he's looking cuter and not so "new-born-y." He's been such a good baby. And my recovery has continued to go very smoothly, thanks to my mom who has been such an incredible help. (I don't know what I'll do when there's no one to tell me I have to take a nap every day!)

Dustin's Infamous Email

Not many know how Number 2 came about, so let me tell you the story. It all started with a twinkle and a shimmer in the eyes of Mom and Dad (no elaborating will be done). Fast forward to approximately 9 months later and that's where we'll begin. It was a relaxing Friday night spent celebrating Lee's (Maren's mom) birthday. Food, Cake, Fun, who could ask for anything more. Dad found himself falling in and out of a deep sleep on the couch while Mom was trying all sorts of "have your baby now" spells. Dad finally dragged himself off the couch and went to bed. Mom gave up on her spells and witch craft and decided to go to bed too.

In a dazed state of confusion, Dad awoke to a moan and an even louder, "Dust!" A blurry "11:30" showed on the clock as Dad realized that this was NOT false alarm number 3. "My water broke" mom cried, and in one quick move, Dad changed into his Super Dad clothes (worn out jeans and an old T-shirt), grabbed mom and her bag and whisked her to the car.Dad carved up the back roads from Kyle to Southwest Austin like an experienced Formula 1 driver, while Mom squealed in pain every 3 to 5 minutes. Dad was quick, but couldn't compete with Mom. 45 minutes after arriving at the Hospital, Jensen Reid came out kicking, which tells me he's going to have quick feet, and we know he's going to have those patented Brudnicki soft hands. Our Number 2 may never be as famous as Dr. Evil's number 2, but we'll take him.

Okay, Maren is telling me to shut up and give stats. Jensen's projected to have 4.3 40 speed and a 45 inch vertical (if there are any college scouts out there, we're taking scholarship offers now). 8 lbs. 21 inches. The mailman's jet black hair (and plenty of it). -Dustin

Baby Jensen

So here's probably the cutest picture we have of our new little guy. Can we help that Carson just happened to be in the photo?! Any way, we're happy to say that everyone is in top notch shape. Jensen Reid Brudnicki was born 2-9-08 at 12:46am, weighing in at 8 lbs, 21" long and has more dark hair than we know what to do with.

He's here!

For those of you who didn't get Dustin's silly email today, we finally got our little Brud #2. He came at 12:46 am Saturday, February 9. I had a quick 1 hour 20 minute labor. No time for drugs, but hey, I can't complain about the recovery. Jensen has lots of dark hair, and doesn't look a thing like Carson! Sorry about not having a picture, Dustin forgot my camera cord, so I'll try to get one up as soon as possible. Other than being a little sleepy, we're all doing great, including Carson. :)

Still PREGNANT!

Yes, to all of those out there still wondering if I am still with child, I am. For those of you who don't know I went into labor at 35 weeks, 6 days and 20 hours. :) So, since I had not yet reached my 36 week minimum, they loaded me with drugs for 12 hours and stopped my labor. I've been dialated to 4 cm for nearly 3 weeks now, and everytime I go to the doctor I get the same old, "Well, you haven't changed. But the baby could come any time. I hope I see you before next Wednesday!" And to top off already being anxious enough (anyone who has ever been 9 months pregnant understands this) my awesome mom came last week to help us out. She didn't intend to come so early, but because I could "go into labor at any time" she wanted to be here to maximize her services. So now both of us are sitting around waiting for this kid to get here!

It's not all bad, however. Mom has proved to be very helpful. We've finished up lots of little projects, and started some new ones, including making a whole new bedding set for our master bedroom. We almost painted my bedroom too, but decided that sleeping in there with all the fumes was probably not good for me and the UNBORN CHILD! Did I mention that I'm anxious for him to come? Anyway, I hope that Dustin will soon be posting new pictures of baby Jensen. Feel free to pass along any good ideas for kick starting labor. We've tried several, and don't even suggest castor oil - I'll never be that anxious.
